Mexican Taxco Sterling Necklace 37 Inches
(3114)

Beautiful Sterling necklace was handmade in Mexico. Each hollow sterling "coil" link is 1 1/4 inch long, including the "eyes" on each end. I think the black beads are obsidian. Under 10x magnification you can see marks on the beads where they were hand-shaped and polished, and they vary some in size. the necklace is 37 inches long and is in very good condition. It is heavy, weighing about 6 1/2 ounces approximately 184 grams.
It has a little square tag that is marked, " Mexico, 925, TR-89. This letter and number system was started in about 1980 according to Billie Hougart, author of "The Little Book of Mexican Silver Trade and Hallmarks". The "T" represents Taxco.
"Vintage" means that an item is not recently made & may have been used or worn in the past.
