I've had inquires about donating to RCJ. If you would care to do so, click the button below. Many thanks.
In 1997, I (Dotty) published a list of costume jewelry designers and companies on my website, Illusion Jewels Vintage Costume Jewelry. It included signatures and marks, many with images. In January of 1999, I invited Pat Seal to join me, and "Researching Costume Jewelry" is the result. RCJ has been garnered from many books on jewelry (see bibliography) information shared by fellow jewelry enthusiasts, from many hours of research Pat has done in periodical libraries and many hours of online research Dotty has done in following leads on companies.
"RCJ" is not comprehensive, and new information is added when discovered and confirmed. We try to publish accurate information to the best of our knowledge; however, inaccuracies will occur due to possibly faulty memories of the people in this industry, lack of historical records from the jewelry companies and our own honest mistakes. Dates given are for when a mark was first used, or when it was first seen in ads or articles.
If you have verifiable information or pictures of marks that you would like to see included, please contact Dotty Stringfield. Credit will be given to all contributors.
Due to the large number of requests, we cannot do appraisals or answer individual questions regarding your jewelry.
Written permission necessary to use any information or pictures from this site in any other publications.
